I'm Jessica Foreman, the artisan and heart behind this journey. Please allow me to share my story about the beginning of Natural Earth Collective, a brand born from a true love for the natural world and a wild passion for creating handcrafted, nature-inspired jewelry.
The Seed of Inspiration
My story begins with a simple love for plants. From the lush foliage that blankets the Eastern Shore of Maryland where I live to the intricate patterns of a single leaf, nature has always been my muse. In fact, I have plants everywhere in my home and studio. My husband says I have "way too many plants in the house", although I know he loves them!
Living in this area, surrounded by its breathtaking water views and the ever-changing tapestry of colors and textures, has offered me an endless source of inspiration.
The Eastern Shore, with its intense sunsets, dense greenery, and active wildlife, offers a daily reminder of the beauty and complexity of the natural world. It's here, in this amazing setting, that the idea for Natural Earth Collective really grew. I sought to create artisan jewelry that not only reflects the elegance and diversity of nature but also forms a tangible connection between the wearer and the natural world.
From Inspiration to Creation
I meticulously source natural stones from all over the world, such as the vibrant turquoise and the opulent opals, for their unique stories and the history they carry. These stones are not just adornments; they are snippets of the earth, each with a tale as old as time.
I try hard to be patient and careful, treating each stone and metal with care. This approach ensures that every piece of jewelry is not just 'made' but lovingly crafted. And mistakes are quite painful, as damaging a stone is never fun.
The Essence of Natural Earth Collective
Through my handmade jewelry, I aim to offer not just an accessory, but a piece of nature, a reminder of the wonders that surround us and the importance of preserving them. I often think about how old a stone is, and what it took to become the beautiful thing that it is.
My collections are inspired by the intricate details of the natural world, from the delicate veins of a leaf to the rugged texture of bark, each piece invites the wearer to carry a piece of nature with them. It's a call to reconnect with the earth, to appreciate its beauty, and to find inspiration in its resilience and diversity.
